Step 1: In your mind, pick thirteen movies you really like. Step 2: Pick a quote/short exchange from each one; don't repeat movies. Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what movie the lines come from Step 4: Cross out the quotes when someone guesses correctly.
01. 1: What's this? [playing with cloth] 2: A chamois cloth. 1: Ha. Lucky guess. I just lost a buck. To myself. -Nik, Supertroopers
02. I'll be honest with you, I love his music, I do, I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, it doesn't get any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman". Nik, Office Space
03. [holding up a bowling ball] What the fuck is this? : Obviously you're not a golfer. Nik, Big Lebowski
04. I had tried singing once and they threw tomatoes so after the show... I had a nice salad. Nik, Hedwig and the Angry Inch
05. See this? *This* is my *boom stick*! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. Nik, Army of Darkness
06. I invented the piano key neck tie! I invented it! What have you done, Derek? Nothing! NOTHING! Brie, Devourer of Souls
07. The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, they're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.Nik, Jacob's Ladder
08. Gary: Your skills are fading with age, Mrs. Sarandon. Susan Sarandon: You will die a peasant's death! Eliza, Team America
09. You guys got somethin' to say to me? Why don't you say it in the microphone. I got a backup mike right here. Check one two, testing, testing. Yup, they both working and guess what? they don't like no feed back, what's up? -
Hey, You're talking to me all wrong here. It's the wrong tone. You better watch it, or I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron. Hey, does your mother sew? BOOM. Get her to sew that. Heewa, Joe Dirt
10. Hello, and welcome to Amsterdam's finest and most luxurious youth hostel. We feature one medium sized room containing 70 beds which can sleep up to 375 bodies a night. There is no bathroom. Nor is there one nearby. If you do not wish to have your valuables stolen I suggest destroying them or discarding them right now. You can also try hiding your valuables. In your anus. This will deter some but of course not all thieves. Once you are inside, the doors are chained and locked from the outside. They will not be opened again until morning, no matter what. Should a fire occur due to our faulty wiring or, uh, the fireworks factory upstairs you will be incinerated along with the valuables that you have hidden in your anus. Tips are greatly appreciated. Heewa, EuroTrip
11. I would say that's that, mattress man. Val, Punch-drunk Love
12. You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bo staff. Heewa, Napolean Dynamite
13. Hello. My name is Stephano and... I am an Italian man. Jen, Lemony Snicket |

| | The Books - The Lemon of Pink | ] | WORK
Been keeping busy with the internship at Servertogo with Jen. We've been really busy meeting a deadline for a bunch of projects for the launch of this software called eBankCentral. We ended up working at the office for like 30 of Wed/Thursday's 48 hours to meet the deadline, but I finially finished the flash demo presentations i've been working on for the last 4 weeks.
eBankCentral Merchant Demo eBankCentral Consumer Demo
The final versions haven't been uploaded yet. The music is pretty corny but they weren't my choices. These are supposedly gonna be on amazon.com and yahoo.com among other places under a "Why use eBankCentral" link and on main site. I'm really happy with the way they turned out.
I'm so greatful to Jen for landing me this internship, not only does it pay nicely and have a very relaxed evironment with a small company, but I also get to work on huge flash projects that I would never have the drive, energy, or reason to do. I'm learnin a lot and getting some nice portfolio stuffy and work experience. Thanks Jen :D
PLAY
I Saw Spiderman 2, i'm actually one of the only few people that didn't really like the first one. I thought it was a little too cheesy and fake (script and CG wise). Yeah it was based on a comic book, but so was Batman, and the first Batman movie is quality stuff. Spiderman 2 was a lot better, it was still corny but it was really entertaining. One part though that my bullshit-o-meter went off on was the part where Doc Oc. was showing his experiment and new arms off, and the one reporter goes (more or less) "But doc, won't those AI arms take over you?" and he goes "oh no thats why I implemented this evil-computer-ai-blocker chip at the top of my spine riiight here.. see?" and then 10 seconds later it "blows a fuse". Worst part of a movie script ever. But the movie had its moments and the Bruce Cambell cameo was cool.
Probably going to see Modest Mouse 08/08 at the Hammerstein Ballroom with Jen. I also want to see Blueman Group or a Broadway Show at some point since i've never seen one. Also a pic nic in Central Park and catching up on some other movies like fahrenheit 911.
PURCHASES
MP3 PLAYER! So after doing some research I ended up buying an iRiver HP 140 Mp3 player and I'm very happy with it. Features and stuff it came with: -40 GIGs of space -MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV and OGG support -fully functional wired remote with LCD -halfway decent earphones -ugly but effective black leather case -Optical In and Out -built-in AND external MIC with direct mp3 ripping built-in -built-in FM radio -charger and 16 hour REAL battery life (double the iPod) -dosen't force you to use any software like iTunes, i have a very organized collection of folders that I browse through on my computer and on the Fo'Pod itself (faux ipod) -auto-loads on any PC or Mac as a USB 2.0 external harddrive (very nice for moving/storing other files) all for 385.00 + 20 dollar rebate.
Its not nearly as stylish and streamlined as the Ipod (its about 1/3 thicker and uses a toggle system not a touch pad), but with the space, features, battery life, price, optional-accessories-for-free, and fact that it won't die and leave me screwed in two years, its the best mp3 player on the market IMHO.
I bought it at BH Photo Video. The place is insane. Anyone who's big into photography or video knows them as practically the number one source for photo and video equipment online, but I went to the actual store which is near my work and its HUUGE. It's like 5 stories tall. The bottom floor is actually the store with display models of products and sales representitives. Its always packed with customers. When you want to buy something, you get a receipt type thing and pick up your item on your way out where the automated system of mechanical baskets bring down your item from the warehouse above. The whole system is automated. The place is also owned and operated by nearly 100% hardcore Jews. I say hardcore because i've seen plenty of jewish people in kentucky and school and such, and they basically look like regular people just with those little caps on their heads. But these Jews all have black Amish-tailored looking suites on and short hair in the back and long super roller-curled hair in the front with matching long beards. Call me niave but i've just never seen that before, i found it pretty interesting. With the automated baskets constantly bringing down goodies with tons of these guys going back and forth, it reminded me of Santa's Elves a little bit. Like if Santa's elves quit, and started their own business.. and grew up. ...and started making more expensive toys... um yea.
HEADPHONES I've always wanted a nice big pair of quality headphones and I finally got some.
Sennheiser HD-280 Pro. They retail for 200 but i got them for 80 at amazon.com. They're circumaural headphones so they fit around the ears which makes them more comfy for my 8 hour work shifts. They're also closed headphones with a lot of padding, so they block out a LOT of sound and keep the music from being audible from the outside of them. Overall I'm pretty happy with them, but even tho they're collapsable, they are a bit of a hassle to carry and can make your ears a little sweaty after awhile. I'm looking into maybe getting a pair of IN-ear headphones like the Shure E3's or Etymotic Research ER-6. Anyone have any experiance with them?
MUSIC I listen to music like 8+ hours a day at work, so i've been getting a lot of new music to check out while i'm there, especially since I have my 'fopod'. I've been getting into a lot of experimental music like The Books that use "found sounds" combined in a textured collage of subtle string accompaniments , simple vocal melodies, and snippets of conversation. Pretty interesting stuff. M83, Manitoba, Four Tet, Mum are some other "Folktronic" or "Glitch Rock" type artists in the same vein. I've been checking out Pitchfork Media's Top albums of 2003 which has been a pretty cool source of new music. |

So I got an internship at ServerToGo thanks to Jen :) Pay is an 800$ Stipend every 2 weeks travel expenses which is insane for an internship. They're a company that makes niche software, I'm working on some flash stuff for them now. 9-6 monday though friday is a pain, especially the hour commute by bus/walking in the nyc heat but it feels good to finally be doing something after a few weeks of doing nothing but watching movies. Dress is casual and everyone is pretty nice. I'm also living in Jen's basement in Staten Island for the summer for the internship :D
Think it'll be a pretty good summer :).

| | Shivaree - Goodnight Moon | ] | Yeah so the quarter is over and I'm up in New Haven CT searching for an internship in NYC. About now i'm searching for anything part-time, full time, internship, per project basis.... I put a resume on monster.com and craigslist.org and check them for posts like twice a day :/ Not getting any decent responses so far.. hardly any.. is it because I'm not actually in the city? Here's my craigslist post and makeshift portfolio. Jen is looking into getting me hired at her work, that would be sweeet... keeping my fingers crossed.
I've been bored here with the freetime being jobless. Luckily someone in the apartment complex has open wireless which i've been mooching the crap out of.
Lets see.. whats worth mentioning since school ended. Well, as soon as I got here my brother forced me to get a manicure and pedicure (he owns/runs a nail salon with his wife) and I reluctantly accepted helping his friend out by going to a highschool prom with her daughter (whos date cancelled last minute) She was korean and had only been in the US for 5 years, that was an akward night. (Jen approved, since it was a favor :P)
I got an A in 3D form and space surprisingly, a B in Programming for Digital Media (even more surpisingly), A in Still Photo III (Final Project HERE), S in Ballroom dancing. and B in EMM.
Things with Jen are great, been going out for over 7 months now, doesn't feel like half that long, I actually took a train up to NYC and spent the weekend with her and her family. She says they really like me :)
What else is random that I could write about... I've been going to fark.com daily. Funny stuff. Check out these Seinfeld and Superman animated shorts they're pretty funny, and I usually HATE Seinfeld (<-not funny) as a comedian (not the show, which was ok)
Thats all for now.. someone find me a job. K. Thnx. Bye. |

First week of classes went pretty well. Besides the fact i have 3 8am classes, it should be a pretty good quarter. Taking photo III, pretty much an independant photo class where i can finally use my digital SLR and shoot whatever I want. Taking 3d Form and Space, my first 3d class, Intro to digital media, an advanced Director class with 3d environments and such, an After Effects class, and Ballroom dancing with Jen. No liberal arts classes yay. And 17 hours of labby shifts in 5 different labs. Its gonna be a lot of work, but its all stuff I'm interested in.

Came back from the Florida Keys, missed one of my flights because of a last-minute gate change, but got back eventally. Here are the pics I shot there ->PHOTOS
I didn't get around to finishing the last flash project for Jason's, but here is what I turned in. Create your own boyband and make lots of Money
Took Jen home to Kentucky with me, that was nice :) Back in Rochester now, classes start tomorrow :/
Saw "The Passion of the Christ", thats a whole entry in itself. Wouldn't it be funny if at the end of the movie there were bloopers with the credits?
I just bought this laptop bag online. Its so sweet :D
Thats all for now. |

| | Soul Coughing - Sleepless | ] | Step 1: Open your mp3 player. Step 2: Put all of your music on random. Step 3: Write down the first ten songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing. 1. Incubus - Fungus Amongus - Take Me to Your Leader 6. Mr. Bungle - Self-Titled - Carousel 7. BT - Under Suspicion - the Third Degree (End Title) 8. Mike Doughty - Skittish - Thank You Lord for Sending Me the F Train 9. Gorillaz - Self-Titled - Rock the House 10. Doors - Riders on the Storm on a 10k list.
The laptop is great, I got it 6 days after I ordered it. The battery can last over 5 hours. I been testing out direct x 9b games and they work like a charm. Everyone "aquire" Worms 3D so we can play, its awesome. Available on a mac too.
I leave tomorrow morning for the Florida Keys to shoot a wedding. Should be interesting. Too bad its in the middle of finals week, and I still have an arseload of work to do. I'll be busy working on my flash project 3 down there. I'll post it up here when i'm done. I'll be back at 5 on Monday. Too bad I can't take a certain someone down with me :T. Off to write 2 more essays barg... |

| | Yeah yeah yeah's - Maps | ] | Its a Boy. 1.5" by 14.2" by 10.9" inches and weighs 7.2 pounds.
Here's the breakdown: Inspiron 8600, "Centrino" Pentium M 1.5Ghz (equivalent to 2.2-2.8 p4), 15.4" widescreen, 128mb ATI Radeon 9600Pro Turbo video card, 512MB 333mhz ram (upgrade to a gig later), 40gb harddrive, 4x DVD+RW, built in Wireless 802.11b/G. 1,567.00 shipped.
After doing a lot of searching, I found that Dell was best for what i wanted. I didn't buy a MAC because they're too expensive, and I need to be able to run MMPORGs for my job, and I still prefer PCs. (honestly my PCs virtually never crash, but most MACs I use do, but i won't go there..) I went passed my budget of $1k, but i'll just have to live off of Ramen, Chef Boyardee, and Pasta (Jen :P) for awhile. It'll be great not falling asleep in lecture classes anymore, multi-tasking NMD work in liberal arts classes, and just being mobile (yeah its heavy, its good excercise heh).
ETA up to 11 grueling days :T
In other news I hit this pothole in front of Lomb Memorial Drive a while back and had to get a new front right tire and wheel. I mailed in an insurance claim form to the transportation department, here's hoping i get some much needed money back. (They just fixed it by the way, maybe because of my phone calls) Been spending a lot of time with Jen lately (since her MAC laptop died), good times :) |

[Feb. 1st, 2004|03:25 am] |
My roomate, nik just called my cell. He and his girlfriend are stuck in his room because the door won't open. Its 3am on a Saturday night and he's trying to unscrew his door handle from the inside. He asked me to supply him with provisions until they can get out :-o
He'll call my cell if he needs anything, we'll see how long it takes to call Campus Safety :P
In other news, I rented some movies today from Video Barn today. Great movie store accross the street from Blockbuster (on 15a?) they have pretty much every movie ever made. A movie called Cheerleader Ninjas It was pretty amusing for the lowest low budget movie i've ever seen. Also a Margaret Cho dvd, funny stuff, The Isle, and The Shining since Jen hasn't seen it yet, and she lives in the RIT INN which reminds me of it.
I have to do a project in flash that shows how to do something, like instructions, as simple as how to make cofee. I want to do something fun and interesting tho. Any ideas on what i should do? :-k |

| | Matthew Good Band - 21st Century Living | ] | Pope John Paul II severely criticized television Sunday for presenting "a distorted view of life, family, religion, and morality" and instead promoting "divorce, contraception, abortion, and homosexuality." In a statement in honor of World Peace Day, whose theme was "family and the media: risk and richness," the Pontiff warned that "the media has the capacity to do great damage to families" and proposed, "without looking to censorship," that "public authorities promote regulations to assure that the media doesn't show programming that goes against the good of the family." from imdb.com
The pope blows, silly God's deputy on earth.
Speaking of the pope, JEUSUS CHRIST I HATE REALITY SHOWS. TV in general sucks. Much to the chagrin of baby jesus. |

I dunno why but I can't seem to keep my eyes open in lectures this year, no matter if I had tons of sleep.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch live in Syracuse! Should be interesting. |
